If you’ve spent any time trying to share content on Facebook, then you’ve probably run into the issue of the image you’d prefer to use not being displayed correctly by Facebook, Messenger or other places on the web.

This problem usually arises when you’ve recently changed the featured image on your content or manually set a new image to be used specifically for that content piece and Facebook has yet to re-scrape the page to notice and use the new image.

Facebook Sharing Debugger

Fortunately, Facebook offers a helpful tool that they call their Facebook Sharing Debugger and it’s a must for any online marketing toolkit.

Here’s how it works…

  1. Drop the URL of the post or page you want to share on Facebook into the Debug field
  2. Click the SCRAPE AGAIN button under “Time Scraped”

And that’s it. Facebook should now be recognizing and using the most recent image that you’ve set.

You can even use the Batch Invalidator tool on the same page to refresh this information for multiple URLs at the same time.

Nothing too groundbreaking here…just a simple, handy tool to save you unnecessary stress and headache.
